Full Job Description

Receives, logs, and distributes all checks and reviews all applications for supporting documents for proper form, sufficiency of information, and conformance with legal standards. Handles a large volume of routine and complex transactions in receiving and accounting for payments in the form of checks. Manages all imaging-related processes to ensure posting and validation are complete and standard with department SLAs and cash management policy.

Department: Finance

Salary: $47,250 per year.

Union: This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 2719 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Posting Type: Contractual Right Announcement/Bid.

Union Bid Form: None required. Your application for this position will serve as your union Bid Form.

WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience in imaging, tax account processing, and finance rules, including accepting customer payments and using imaging systems to validate tax information.

(Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)

    • Receives and reviews all applications received in mail or by other City departments; assesses scope of request and relevant requirements; educates internal City departments regarding policies and procedures and general finance compliance rules of any type of request.
    • Verifies that applications have obtained all necessary documentation to complete the remittance process successfully.
    • Calculates and verifies valuations and fees; accepts all types of checks.
    • Handles a large volume of routine and complex transactions involving receiving, counting, balancing, reporting, and accounting for checks.
    • Maintains accurate records and files; prepares reports.
    • Provides training and/or technical assistance.
    • Operates all systems and/or equipment related to the remittance process.
    • Processes and distributes receipted bills, or any type of forms, as necessary
    • Maintain records and prepares accurate reports.
    • May work evenings.
    • Performs activities and functions of related personnel and other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
