The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join the business office at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas.
In this vital role, you will support the business manager by performing a variety of clerical and accounting duties that contribute to the effective management of the facility’s medical, educational, and general funds.

In this position, you will examine purchase orders and contracts to verify accuracy, appropriate funding sources, and correct general ledger coding.
You will collaborate with purchasing agents to implement necessary revisions, such as adjusting quantities or adding line items to reflect additional services and ensure proper vendor payment.
Your responsibilities will include reconciling monthly purchasing card statements, recording payments in the APR system as they occur, and uploading all supporting documentation.
You will process refunds for checks received to offset expenditures and generate daily reports of blocked invoices.
By researching and coordinating with the appropriate parties to resolve discrepancies, you will ensure issues are corrected promptly and invoices are released for payment in a timely and accurate manner.
