To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in reviewing all reports and records which are required to be maintained to meet minimum requirements set forth in the regulations of the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, and General Accounting Office.
Experience in financial management activities, workflow and organizational techniques used to provide professional leadership and guidance to staff in order to accomplish a wide scope of duties.
Experience in formulating, analyzing and revising the annual salaries and expense budget. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
**Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.** Major Duties:
Member of the Financial Management managerial staff and serves as facilitator and interpreter of Bureau of Prisons (BOP) policies and procedures as well as related management functions for the institutions located in the Region as well as the Regional Office.
Provides independent technical and administrative direction normally provided by the Regional Comptroller to the field institutions and regional office during these periods of acting responsibility.
Assists in formulating, analyzing and revising the annual salaries and expense regional budget totaling in excess of $500 million.
Supports all field institutional Financial Managers for direction, advice and consultation in preparation of their institutional budgets and is aware of the many programs and personnel changes that cause continuous realignment of funds to meet the needs and planning goals of each facility.
