Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of materials engineers at the Naval Sea Systems Command, where you'll oversee the design, analysis, and improvement of materials used in Navy ships and submarines to ensure they perform safely and reliably.

You'll also manage budgets, conduct risk assessments, and advise high-level military leaders on technical matters related to these vessels.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Materials Engineer in the Materials Division ESA 05P2 of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.

Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level/pay band NH-03 (GS-13) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer planning and managing system development and support programs for Naval ships and submarines.

  • You will lead the execution of technical authority across materials disciplines.
  • You will be responsible for materials analysis and design of Naval submarines and ships.
  • You will plan, oversea, and conduct investigations, risk assessments, analyses and design modifications of materials engineering technology solutions and design criteria for ships/submarines.
  • You will plan, coordinate, and secure program funding for field activity support, field contractor technical assistance, and headquarters oversight.
  • You will supervise all direct reports within the Materials Division.
  • You will serve as the US Navy's senior technical representative to SES and Flag officers on surface ship/submarine material matters.
  • You will ensure the development and maintenance of Navy technical policies with material requirements, specifications, system designs, analysis, design criteria, design products, design waivers, risk assessments and life cycle engineering efforts.
