About the Position: This position assists in the daily administrative functions of the Department of Medical Education/Graduate Medical Education at Womack Army Medical Center by supporting the ACGME and PAHEC programs and the accreditation of residents in the medical facility by ensuring quality control and compliance with standards set by several regulatory agencies.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in continuing education programs and accreditation of residents by maintaining, reviewing and updating Training Credential Files (TCF) for resident professionals, assisting in the planning of educational development and in-service trainings, and supporting the daily administrative operations in a medical facility by maintaining a calendar, preparing correspondence, and using automated database systems to enter and retrieve information for use in a variety of reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Health Care Management, or Healthcare Administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Major Duties:

  • Retrieve data from a variety of software systems to prepare reports that support Graduate Medical Education.
  • Research and analyze problems affecting the Graduate Medical Education for resolution.
  • Assist managers in maintaining quality control and compliance with the accreditation standards as set by several regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as the expert matter in Training credential file for residents and maintains historical academic files for the Graduate Medical Education.
  • Screen Continuing Medical Education after action reports for accuracy prior to granting credits.
  • Assist the Continuing Medical Education department in the planning of educational development and inter-department in-service training.
