This entry-level trainee position in West Virginia's Office of Technology involves learning to set up, install, and fix computers and software for state agencies, often while traveling to different locations.

Requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required.
Travel to various State Agencies to perform work.
Maintain accurate mileage records.
You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Providing excellent customer service is a priority.
Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.
Job Duties: While working with a mentor and team members, you will:
Learn to image computers using a WVOT standard image.
Learn to install and configure hardware and software in multiple state agencies which may include Department of Corrections Facilities and/or State Hospitals.
Learn to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
Learn basic networking.
Learn to connect to computers remotely to install software and troubleshoot issues.
Learn to use an ITSM (IT Service Management) tool to accept assignment of incidents and tasks and update the ITSM daily, recording all work performed and resolving incidents or tasks when completed.
Assist the service desk answering calls on a rotating schedule.
** Placed on a rotating call out schedule ** (Kanawha County Only).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Training: Associate degree from an accredited college or university with nine (9) semester hours of computer science/Information technology.
OR
Substitution: High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
completion of certificate.
OR
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in information, telecommunication, or wireless technology, and/or information related fields.* As a condition of employment, an inquiry into job-related information will be completed which may include, but not limited to, criminal records, abuse registry records, driving records, employment history, and education and training.
