This job involves driving trucks and smaller vehicles to transport people, materials, and equipment for a state transportation department, including loading/unloading cargo and handling dump trucks for loose materials like sand or rock.
It also requires basic vehicle maintenance, record-keeping, and related tasks like delivering mail or supplies.
A good fit would be someone reliable with a clean driving record, experience in transportation or logistics, and comfortable with hands-on work in a government setting.
The basic purpose of this work is to operate various motor trucks to transport persons, materials and/or equipment in connection with assigned agency activities.
Drives motor truck with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, crushed rock, etc.
including securing load for transit.Operates light motor vehicle such as station wagon, panel truck and automobile to transport passengers, patients, clients, inmates or materials to designated locations.Performs minor preventative maintenance to motor vehicles such as checking tire pressure and battery, oil, gas and water levels and corrects minor deficiencies.Maintains records and prepares reports on such matters as vehicle use, mileage, destinations, accidents, etc.Loads and unloads materials, furniture, equipment and supplies.Performs related duties such as contacting appropriate individual for motor vehicle maintenance and/or repair; picking up and delivering mail; and distributing supplies and equipment.
