Full Job Description
Under general supervision, performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of heavy and special motor equipment; and does related work as required.
Examines and locates mechanical defects in a variety of heavy and special motor equipment such as power shovels, cranes, wrecker trucks, heavy tractor-trailers, catchbasin cleaning machines, motor graders, and other earth moving equipment.
Requirements
Disassembles, repairs, grinds or replaces work parts; fits new parts and adjusts engines, oil, water and fuel pumps, carburetors and fuel injectors, governors, starting motors, clutches, transmissions, differentials, brakes and steering gear; replaces electrical wiring, overhauls hydraulic lifts and steering assemblies on motor graders and tractors; uses welding equipment to fabricate, rebuild and strengthen various parts and pieces of equipment; maintains records of time and materials used on each job.
Qualifications
