Summary

This job involves planning and carrying out investigative projects that analyze workforce, financial, and performance data for a U.S. government agency focused on border security.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Accountability, Analysis Integration Division (AID), located in one of the following locations: Washington, DC Indianapolis, IN Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning, researching, and implementing the full scope of investigative projects requiring interpretation and application of workforce, financial, and performance management data.

Analyzing findings, evaluates statistical limitations of data, and specifies the range of logically possible explanations.

Developing and reviewing analytics pilot project plans, and identifies areas of improvement.

Background Investigation: U.S.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Accountability, will allow you to utilize your expertise providing analytics expertise to programs and offices around CBP.

This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by serving as an expert and senior analyst on current analytical tools and techniques, advisor to CBP organizational elements on applying analytics to their challenges, reviewing and formulating of policy to improve analytics within CBP to Enterprise Services.

In this Management and Program Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in planning, developing, monitoring, and coordinating analytical projects relating to high visibility cross-component issues to resolve critical operational, policy and resourcing issues; directly impacting all analytics programs and processes; using existing technology products to carry out research and evaluation projects; performing all phases of the complete research process including problem definition, planning, execution, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of findings; conducting investigations on challenging problems; and developing new policy and procedures that impact analytics techniques, training procedures, documentation procedures, and staffing levels.

Typical Work assignments include: Performing analysis and developing automated models for forecasting.

Preparing documentation of procedures, presents findings, details problems encountered, and generates recommendations.

Serving as project manager or office representative on multi-office teams, and coordinating group efforts for cross-component analytics projects.

Presenting to top level management on complex matters involving agency-wide or government analytics and data policies and procedures, involving both written and oral presentations.
