This job is an entry-level role in human resources at a military base, where you'll help with hiring new staff, guide employees on benefits and rules, and manage paperwork for personnel changes.
It's ideal for someone organized with office experience who enjoys supporting people in a team environment, especially if you have any background in administrative tasks or customer service.
No advanced degree is needed, but familiarity with basic HR processes will help you succeed.
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the NAF Human Resources Office, McGuire AFB, NJ. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Experience interpreting and applying NAF HR rules, regulations and procedures in accomplishment of clerical/administrative work, utilizing recruitment tools in hiring personnel.
Advises on routine recruitment strategies, troubleshooting and resolving personnel system and software issues. Experience in processing a variety of personnel actions.
Experience in utilizing office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Serves as a reliable source of information on procedural and regulatory requirements pertaining to HR personnel matters. Provides guidance and informational resources to supervisors and employees.
Explains employee rights and responsibilities. Receives and reviews personnel action requests and supporting documents for validity and completion.
Conducts strategic recruitment discussions to advise on recruitment strategies. Advises on permanent and/or temporary placement actions.
Explains hiring preferences and priority considerations in the recruitment process to management and/or applicant. Extends job offers and initiates pre-employment process.
Completes assigned and applicable onboarding tasks/responsibilities. Coordinates entrance on duty date once pre-employment requirements are favorably met.
Prepares for and conducts in-processing briefings.
Completes new hire record by ensuring all tasks are complete to include in-processing and all new hire documents are uploaded to the recruitment casefile.
Ensures personnel documents are places into the official personnel file.
Conducts orientation for new employees providing information on insurance, retirement and 401k savings benefits, workers compensation and unemployment compensation.
Tracks employee benefits eligibility window. Explains life qualifying events IAW HIPAA special enrollment rights and open enrollment. Maintains and locates position descriptions.
Enters position descriptions into an automated library and uploads supporting documents into its casefile. Completes cursory reviews of previously classified position descriptions.
Enters personnel data into automated NAF personnel data system. Processes full range of personnel actions IAW applicable rules and procedures. Answers inquiries concerning status of pending actions.
