Requirements

As a Fiscal Assistant at the Board of Finance and Revenue, your primary responsibility will be to review and verify the correctness of claims in compliance with laws and regulations for the refund of liquid fuels tax paid by farmers, volunteer fire companies, political subdivisions, and non-public schools. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the division by performing the following duties:
  • Review claim documentation and enter claim information into the liquid fuels database.
  • Request additional information from claimants when discrepancies arise and update claimant information in the database.
  • Verify documentation submitted to ensure the tax was paid and fuel was purchased in Pennsylvania during the filing period.
  • Maintain logs and perform related clerical duties such as answering calls and managing documents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days a week. Management may discontinue the telework arrangement at any time, for any reason.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work.
  • You must have an associates degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting.
  • You must have experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, web-based utilities or the ability to learn relevant software to perform job duties.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently on assignments.
