About the Position: This position is located at Defense Health Network Pacific Rim, Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA Directorate of Resource Management Financial Management.

The incumbent serves as a financial analyst who provides civilian payroll processing support and account closeout of prior year documents.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) utilizing an automated system to input and/or verify financial, payroll and/or time and attendance data; and 2) resolving financial, pay-related and/or time and attendance discrepancies; and 3) providing advice on financial, payroll and/or time and attendance procedures.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance or Accounting.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Analyzes and reconciles a variety of accounts and financial transactions within multiple commonly used systems.
  • Performs analyses of relevant financial data and transactions to conduct financial reporting operations.
  • Runs daily and non-daily general ledger reports to analyze, research, correct, and maintain documentation for audit.
  • Coordinates with the Budget and requesting departments to determine validity of purchase requests and de-commit or process obligation transactions.
  • Provides routine timelines support, regular biweekly payroll cycles, and special timelines for end-of-month audit reports, such as leave or use/lose.
  • Reviews, verifies, and processes a variety of payroll and time and attendance data.
