Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping manage budgets, track spending, and handle financial tasks for the Navy's shipbuilding operations in Bath, Maine.

You'll analyze money matters, prepare reports, and ensure funds are used correctly to support programs and activities.

It's a good fit for someone with a couple of years of experience in finance or budgeting who likes detail-oriented work in a government setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-09 level or equivalent for GS-11, including analyzing financial data to create budgets and estimates
  • Experience resolving financial transactions, such as payroll and invoice processing using financial management systems
  • Ability to analyze and summarize financial and budgetary information while ensuring compliance with regulations to avoid over- or under-obligation of funds
  • Familiarity with budgetary, accounting, and financial administrative procedures, practices, and regulations

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing financial information to formulate a budget and estimates to support plans, resolving command financial transactions; payroll and invoice processing utilizing financial management systems for an organization.

For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing and summarizing financial and budgetary information by conducting searches of local controls and financial regulations to assure funds are not over or under obligated and spent in a timely manner.

  • You will assist in the performance of functions such as: formulation of budget and estimates to support plans, programs, and activities; review and evaluate budget requests, control and reporting of obligations and expenditures.
  • You will perform studies or assist others with full scale studies.
  • You will provide information about, and interprets standard organizational budgetary, accounting, or financial administrative procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • You will research guides to locate accounting, budgetary and financial information and prepare summaries for use by managers.
  • You will perform specialized work involving managerial or administrative work in connection with accounting systems; analytical, forecasting, and interpretive functions associated with the management and control of resources or funds.
  • You will track and control funds for special programs and utilize analytical or program work pertaining to payroll, cash control, or benefit systems.
  • You will perform a variety of other fiscal, accounting, or financial management duties and responsibilities may also be performed by incumbents of this position.
