Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an engineer or scientist to improve data systems for ship maintenance in the Navy, focusing on analyzing processes, creating tools, and turning data into useful insights to keep the fleet ready.

Key Requirements

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) in Ship Maintenance Data Improvement Initiative (SMDII) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CTR CORONA DIV.

ND-03 - In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05-GS-08 grade level or pay band ND-02 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing engineering/scientific processes and project management theories and practices to develop, analyze, plan, and scope data system requirements, work with warfare commands to translate data into actionable insights, develop project plans, and build detailed, comprehensive tools and applications that will impact fleet readiness across the Enterprise.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will understand and develop applicable basis for measurement documentation. The incumbent works within a teaming environment and uses problem solving techniques to identify and develop digital transformation and IT tool requirements.
  • You will devise technical solutions for information systems in support of advanced and predictive analytics and deploying enterprise-level capabilities within the MRA systems.
  • You will ensures timely responses to community ad-hoc assessment calls, dashboard construction, timely submittal of assessment reports, and communicating accomplishments and tasking adherence to customers via written status reports.
  • You will look for opportunities to introduce more ship maintenance data into the work stream and improve ways of tracking and reporting maintenance issues. You will work directly with SRF-JRMC personnel to improve internal data workflow processes.
  • You will understand, utilize and communicate division level processes and tools such as Ships Maintenance Data Improvement Initiative - SMDII, Tableau, Material Readiness Database -MRDB, Surface Team One - ST1 and Maintenance and Material Management
