Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a mechanical engineer for the Navy, overseeing and evaluating tests on new submarines during construction, especially for propulsion and other mechanical systems.
You'll review data, identify problems, and recommend fixes to ensure everything works safely and meets standards.
It's a great fit for experienced engineers who enjoy hands-on technical work in shipbuilding and have a background in evaluating complex systems.
You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the NEW CONSTRUCTION SUBMARINE TEST BRANCH (248); ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (200) of SUPSHIP.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience to the next lower grade level, (GS-11), or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer evaluating surveillance methods in order to identify, evaluate, or recommend solutions to the contractor's test program, processes and procedures during shipboard testing.
