Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an engineer or scientist to plan, manage, and carry out projects on advanced microelectronics for military weapons and defense systems, ensuring they are reliable and secure throughout their development and use.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to ND-04 (GS-12/13) in planning, managing, and executing microelectronics engineering projects for warfare systems
  • Professional engineering or science background meeting OPM basic requirements for series 0801, 1301, 1501, 1515, or 1550
  • Expertise in developing and documenting plans to solve engineering problems in trusted microelectronics
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary stakeholder teams, including high-level experts, to address technical issues in high-reliability components
  • Accountability for technical rigor, including chairing execution reviews and participating in root cause analyses
  • Experience providing strategic planning, senior-level technical engineering, and programmatic leadership for strategic weapon systems
  • Skills in maintaining technical competencies, identifying gaps, and improving processes through reviews and continuous improvement

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the GLOBAL DETERRENCE & DEFENSE DEPARTMENT (GX), TRUSTED MICROELECTRONICS DIVISION (GXV) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 grade) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist planning, managing and executing microelectronics engineering projects throughout a system's lifecycle to support the technological advancement of a variety of warfare weapons programs.

  • You will demonstrate expertise in developing and documenting plans to solve engineering problems.
  • You will lead stakeholder teams including Flag Level, Ph.D. Level, and subject matter experts to solve technical issues associated with Trusted Microelectronics, and high reliability microelectronic components for strategic platform applications.
  • You will be accountable for technical rigor and judiciousness, chair internal execution review process and will be a key asset to all Root Cause Analyses.
  • You will provide strategic planning, senior-level technical engineering, subject matter expertise, and programmatic leadership to be utilized in strategic weapon system and mission-critical military platform applications.
  • You will provide leadership for the Division in ensuring technical competencies are maintained, identify gaps and improve technical rigor and improvement in processes /procedures via regular technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
