Full Job Description

Under limited supervision, this position supports educator workforce development and certification processes by managing the Exchange Visitor Teacher Program for South Carolina, coordinating educator certification and student loan forgiveness initiatives, and assisting with recruitment and recognition efforts.

This role also contributes to the review and revision of certification guidelines and represents the agency at stakeholder engagements.

Responsibilities are carried out in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, State Board of Education policies, and agency procedures.


Job responsibilities include:

Facilitating the Exchange Visitor Teacher Program, including approving educators for participation, processing certification for international teachers, monitoring and assisting participants, serving as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the U.S.

Department of State, and collaborating with sponsoring agencies to approve cultural exchange programs.

  • Coordinating the annual identification of critical subject and geographic shortage areas for South Carolina and federal student loan forgiveness programs. Responding to educator inquiries regarding loan forgiveness eligibility and processes.
  • Assisting in the ongoing review of certification guidelines, focusing on course-by-course requirements for educators seeking to add new certification fields and endorsements and convening content area experts to revise criteria as needed.
  • Supporting recruitment initiatives, including SC Teach, SC CREATE, and housing-related programs.
  • Representing the office and agency at stakeholder meetings, conferences, recruitment events, and educator recognition ceremonies.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

  • This position is located in the Office of Educator Services.
