Job Description

Summary

This night-shift supervisory role in South Carolina's Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services involves overseeing communication specialists in an intelligence tracking center, assisting with law enforcement programs, and maintaining professional networks both inside and outside the agency.

It requires handling support for staff and other law enforcement groups while promoting effective communication and public relations.

Ideal candidates are experienced professionals with a background in criminal justice or related fields who can manage teams during overnight hours and adapt to varying schedules.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, communications, or other social/behavioral sciences
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in the above disciplines plus 3 years of experience in criminal justice, communications, or related human services work
  • Relevant program experience in probation and parole work
  • Ability to supervise communication specialists and assist with ITAC programs and special projects
  • Strong skills in maintaining professional communication networks and public relations
  • Availability for night shift (8:30pm to 5:00am, Monday-Friday) with possible weekends and schedule variations
  • No eligibility for Police Officer Retirement System membership

Location: Columbia/ITAC (Intelligence Tracking & Communications)

*Intelligence Tracking and Communications Agent (ITAC Agent)

*Monday through Friday 8:30pm to 5:00am. Schedules may vary. If needed, there may be some weekend coverage.

Under limited supervision from the Night Shift Supervisor, the Program Coordinator of Communications will be responsible for technical and professional services in communication within the Agency for ITAC.

The Communication Specialist Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Communication Specialists and assisting the ITAC supervisors with programs and special projects related to the Agency’s law enforcement responsibilities.

Provide support and assistance to Department staff or various law enforcement agencies.

Maintains a professional communication network inside and outside the Department, promotes public relations and has effective communication with all Agency personnel.



Requirements

A bachelor’s degree and relative program experience in Probation and Parole work.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, communications or other social/behavioral sciences or a bachelor’s degree which includes at least 15 semester hours in the aforementioned disciplines and completion of three (3) years of experience in criminal justice, communications, or related professional human services work.
