Job Description

Summary

This job involves investigating reports of need for older adults in Pennsylvania, ensuring their safety through interviews, evidence collection, and coordination with other agencies.

It also includes helping seniors apply for benefits, referring them to services, and maintaining records to support their well-being.

Key Requirements

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor, or one and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience plus a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or related field
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training including at least six months in professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing
  • Knowledge of laws governing protective services programs and community support services for older adults
  • Ability to conduct timely investigations, interview involved parties, collect evidence, and take action to ensure safety
  • Proficiency in assisting with entitlement program applications, case referrals, and completing reports, statistics, and records within required time frames
  • Attendance at mandatory trainings such as Basic Protective Services and yearly PS Enrichment
  • Meet Pennsylvania residency requirements and preference for living in Luzerne or Wyoming County

The Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Protective Services Unit is seeking a hard-working Aging Care Manager 3. Requirements

In this role, the Care Manager 3 is assigned to the Protective Services Unit within the Social Services Department. Your duties will involve a variety of investigative tasks.

Following the receipt of a Report of Need for Protective Services, you will determine the category and priority of need, investigate allegations in a timely manner, interview all persons involved and collect all necessary evidence and documents.

This position works with other agencies to come to a conclusion and takes necessary action to ensure the safety of the older adult.

Your knowledge of laws governing the protective services program and available community support services will be key.

Additional duties include:

  • Assisting older adults to apply for entitlement programs
  • Referring cases, as appropriate, to other AAA services
  • Completing statistics, reports, case records, and other forms within the time frames required by the Department of Aging
  • Attending all trainings pertinent to the Protective Services Investigator job classification including Basis Protective Services and yearly PS Enrichment
  • Interpreting AAA programs and Protective Services regulations to individuals, the public, and other agencies


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
  • One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.
