Requirements

In this position, you will appropriately maintain a caseload of vulnerable consumers by providing protective services to persons age 60 and older within Westmoreland County.

Our team will rely on you to obtain information from each consumer, members of the consumers' families, neighbors, and other persons necessary for the identification of social, economic, emotional, health, or physical problems experienced by the consumes we serve.

This involves conducting direct interviews, evaluating information to identify risks, applying regulations to determine when intervention is needed, and providing appropriate Protective Service interventions.

Work includes collaborating with legal, medical, financial, and other professionals to reduce hazardous or dangerous situations and stabilize each consumer in their environment.


You will be expected to advocate generally for new and improved services to support each consumer’s needs and ability to remain in the community.

Follow up with consumers and their support systems to confirm that services recommended and agreed to by the consumer have been implemented and that the identified risk has been reduced or eliminated is also a critical part of this role.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • This position may be required to be on a standby rotation for off-hours coverage.
  • Telework: This position combines office and fieldwork. After the initial training and probationary period, telework (part-time) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as an Aging Care Manager 1 or a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • Six months of professional human services or nursing experience; and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
