Job Description

Summary

This job involves serving as an expert in acquisition policies for the Navy's contracting department, where you'll interpret regulations, develop procedures to ensure compliance, and provide guidance on procurement processes.

You'll work independently to solve complex issues, lead meetings, and support data collection for oversight programs.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Acquisition Policy specialist for the 021 Division.
  • You will interpret and apply Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and local acquisition regulations, policies, and procedures to the Contacts Department contracting process and local standard operating procedures.
  • You will develop and update policies, instructions, and procedures for the Contracts Department and shall ensure compliance with Federal, DoD, DoN, NAVSEA and other applicable regulations.
  • You will support preparation for the Procurement Surveillance Program (PSP) as directed by NAVSEA.
  • You will assist with and provide oversight to data collection that supports data calls requested at the DoD, DASN, NAVSEA HQs or any other entities directing such calls deemed of vital interest.
  • You will interface independently with the NSWC IHD Department heads, Warfare Center Divisions, NAVSEA HQs.
  • You will lead meetings and provide insight to solve strategic issues, and be able to formulate appropriately reasoned responses IAW established regulatory or policy guidance.
  • You will plan and carry out assignments and shall be able to determine the appropriate acquisitions approaches that should be used.
  • You will work with maximum independence and resolve complex issues.
