This vacancy is for a GS-1084-11/12, Visual Information Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S.
Coast Guard, FORCECOM ENTERPRISE PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS BRANCH in NORFOLK, Virginia.
Basic Requirements: EDUCATION: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.
Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR EXPERIENCE: Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made.
Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position.
This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means.
AND To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
Managing projects which include a variety of finished products such as instructional material: producing slides, line art and illustrations, and brochures Using computer graphics: Integrating information from one software package into another Developing original media such as freehand drawings, web media, video or photography Using illustration techniques, such as freehand drawings, web social media, video or photography To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
An extensive range of subject matter expertise, artistic skills and design ability in the execution and formatting of graphic illustrations.
Ability to apply a variety of both traditional and electronic visual arts methods and techniques to conceptualize subject matter into compelling graphic illustrations and visual designs Knowledge of computer graphics to enable development of alternative methods for delivery of training and information.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a variety of art media for the reproduction processes to ensure production efficiency and cost-effective management programs.

You will serve as a Visual Information Specialist and be responsible for: Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Providing project management and visual media development for a variety of finished products such as advanced distributed learning and informational materials.
Providing guidance to customers on the development of high-quality media production within required timelines and the scope of the projects.
Serving as the principal manager, overseeing the planning, coordination and design of media production requirements including cohesive esthetics of design and media elements audience demographics, content mode of delivery, and the presentation of project totality encompassing design, flow, text, audio and visual elements.
Producing photographs, line art, digital pamphlets, booklets, brochures and catalogues, interactive media content.
