Under limited supervision the position is responsible for developing methods for statistical analysis and visualization for a variety of needs within the Communicable Disease Epidemiology Section (CDES) including, but not limited to, grant-required reporting, Hepatitis registry data analysis, outbreak data management, dashboards, annual reports, and data modernization. Consults with other CDES staff on projects requiring statistical analysis, responds to data requests, and participates in electronic disease surveillance system testing and quality assurance. Documents all processes to ensure sustainability and the continuity of key functions.

Performs analytic activities required for routine data products, ad hoc requests, and special projects. Develops dashboards, reports, and other data summaries related to communicable diseases, including products to inform internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with other Communicable Disease Epidemiology Section (CDES) staff on data modernization activities, including maximizing the utility of collected data, the development of new data collection, analytic tools and the application of novel solutions to improve CDES’s analytic capabilities.

Performs other duties as assigned which may also involve deployment to a field location to participate in public health activities or other duties as required during periods of emergency.

Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the position.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements: Programming and analytic skills using R and Python. Ability to create, modify, and maintain data products in Power BI. Ability to communicate in oral and written form. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. Ability to manage time and meet reasonable deadlines. Understanding of methods for protecting confidential data.
