This job involves leading a new training team in a busy transportation department, where you'll figure out what skills employees need, create or find training programs to teach them, and make sure everyone completes required courses to stay safe and effective.
You'll also build programs to help staff grow their careers in an organization with over 500 people handling roads, bridges, and big events.
A good fit would be someone experienced in training and managing people who enjoys planning educational paths and working with diverse teams.
This position Training Manager (ASM) is part of the HR division within the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT).
In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the newly formed training division for the agency.
The Training Manager will oversee the day-to-day functions of the training division which will involve evaluating educational needs within NDOT and developing the necessary curriculum or overseeing the selection process of a training vendor.
They will also be responsible for ensuring that NDOT staff members stay in compliance with mandatory training initiatives.
Additionally, they will serve a key role in creating a career path training and development program for NDOT staff, which consists of over 500 employees.
This position reports to the Human Resources Manager over HR, Safety and Training. Performs related duties as assigned.
The Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure delivers a range of services, and the nearly 400 employees work around the clock to ensure a multimodal system that offers choice and better connects neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors to the place that they need and want to go to in a safe manner. These employees are responsible for over 2,200 miles of public roadways and rights-of-way, over 6,000 streets, over 300 bridges, 835 traffic signals and over 1,200 miles of bike/sidewalk lanes and much more. Big events in Nashville consist of CMA Festival, Stanley Cup Finals, Titans games, and any number of special events. These require big preparation and big clean-up, and the Nashville Department of Transportation employees are up for the challenge.We are an equal opportunity employer.
