Full Job Description

Metro Nashville Public Health (MPHD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communicable Disease Investigator (CDI) to join a team already dedicated to community disease identification, treatment and prevention of communicable diseases throughout Nashville and Davidson County. The ideal candidate will have experience in public health field work, and knowledge of immunizations, disease control, and investigation in a community health program.

Requirements

Serves as a member the STD/HIV Program team, and participates in program activities designed to reduce the rate of STD/HIV in Nashville.Conducts counseling and education; conducts epidemiological investigations; counsels patients on preventative measures against STD/HIV, provides HIV testing.Provides STD/HIV test results to patients; interviews patients for contact information; conducts and participates in field investigations for partner notification and referral services.Participates in clinic coverage on a rotational basis; transports patients for testing and treatment as needed.Compiles and submits statistical data and other related reports; participates in health fairs and other community events.Conducts HIV and syphilis screening in non-clinical settings; collects laboratory specimens as needed.Attends conferences and in-services as appropriate.Performs directly observed therapy and counsels regarding medication compliance and side effects.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field.Valid driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
