Full Job Description

The Administrative Services Officer 2 - Human Relations Commission provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Metropolitan Human Relations Commission (MHRC).

This position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operations of the office by coordinating administrative processes, supporting staff and Commissioners, and assisting the Executive Director with scheduling and operational needs.

The Administrative Coordinator will assist with vendors, procurement, and internal stakeholders, and performs related duties as assigned.

The mission of the Metro Human Relations Commission (MHRC) is to protect and promote the personal safety, health, security, peace, and general welfare of all people in Nashville and Davidson County. We educate to promote a better understanding between groups, cultures, and ideologies. We advocate to give voice to segments of our society that have often been unheard and left out of our civil discourse and decisions.

Requirements

  • Assists with daily office operations to ensure smooth and efficient administrative functioning.
  • Communicates with vendors and coordinates with procurement to support purchasing and contractual needs.
  • Supports the operational and administrative needs of the Commission, including preparation for meetings and Commission activities.
  • Provides administrative support to staff, including coordinating logistics and responding to routine inquiries.
  • Assists the Executive Director with scheduling, calendar management, and coordination of meetings and appointments.
  • Schedules meetings and manages calendars for staff and Commission-related activities.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence, including phone calls, emails, and mail.
  • Prepares documents, reports, agendas, and other materials as requested.
  • Maintains organized filing systems, both electronic and physical, to ensure records are accurate and accessible.
  • Orders office supplies and monitors inventory to support office operations.
  • Provides on-site support for MHRC-hosted and sponsored events, including evenings or weekends as required.
  • Attend MHRC-hosted and sponsored events, which may occur outside of normal business hours.
  • Performs clerical and administrative tasks to support the overall mission and operations of MHRC.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and (2) two years of professional experience administrative, clerical, or operational support experience
