Summary

This entry-level government job involves managing and organizing technical documents and data to support naval logistics and maintenance operations at a submarine facility in Washington state.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a TECHNICAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST in the PRODUCTION SUPPORT DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position.

The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity.

This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position.

The entry levels for this position is GS-07 with a full performance level of GS-11.

Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position.

Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions.

FOR GS-07: This recruitment is open to applicants with WG-08 or GS-05 equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to assess technical data and documents in support of logistics operations or programs to maintain systems, indexes and catalog procedures.

  • You will perform the following duties under close supervision.
  • You will maintain a complete, accurate, current library of paper and electronic documents (classified, unclassified, nuclear and non-nuclear) and deliver them by the most effective, time-critical method.
  • You will provide Logistics Technical Data (LTD) support by utilizing indexes (e.g. Ships Drawing Index (SDI), Valve Label Index (VLI) and Index of Technical Publications (ITP).
  • You will provide Logistics Technical Data (LTD) support by utilizing databases (e.g. Advanced Technical Information System (ATIS), Logistic Data Systems (LDS), Historical Information tool Kit (HITKit)).
  • You will provide Logistics Technical Data (LTD) support by utilizing websites (e.g. Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP), Technical Data Management Information System (TDMIS)).
  • You will examine, index and catalog existing LTD based on observation of customers’ needs and the content of the LTD.
  • You will coordinate and maintain LTD databases to reflect inventory, location, receipt, change level, applicability and implementation date.
  • You will execute specific rules, regulations and procedures to assist engineers and technical staff of the activity.
