Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage and secure sensitive communication keys and systems for the Navy's Strike Fighter Wing in the Pacific Fleet, advising top officers on policies and procedures while ensuring everything runs smoothly and securely.

A good fit would be someone with experience in security operations, especially handling classified information, who enjoys supervising others and staying on top of technical updates in a military environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent in developing, monitoring, or safeguarding communications security information using Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)
  • Broad knowledge of KMI programs and their support for local elements
  • Ability to consult, advise, and act as liaison with commanding officers and officials at various command levels, including Joint Staff and Fleet
  • Skills in developing, coordinating, and implementing written policies and procedures for KMI
  • Experience conducting annual reviews of controlled systems and providing training through lectures, inspections, and spot checks
  • Supervisory abilities, including planning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and providing guidance to subordinates

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Operations Department of STRIKE FIGHTER WING PACIFIC STAFF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, monitoring, coordinating, processing, controlling, transmitting, or safeguarding specialized communications security information by applying a broad knowledge of the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will consult and advise the Commanding Officer, in the development, formulation, installation, and management of policy in all matters (technical and administrative) regarding Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) and its support of Local Elements.
  • You will act as a liaison for Commanding Officer in all matters pertaining to KMI. Interacts with key officials of similar positions and authority at all levels of command including Joint Staff, Fleet, Type, Group, Squadron and/or Unit Commanders.
  • You will develop, coordinate and implement written guidance for Commander Strike Fighter Wing and Local Element KMI policy and procedures.
  • You will initiate and conduct annual reviews of all controlled systems to confirm the continuing requirement for controlled key.
  • You will provide training for command and local element KMI personnel through a series of formal and informal lectures, training visits, inspections, and spot checks.
  • You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and schedule for completion of work.
  • You will evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • You will give advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • You will provide Commander Strike Fighter Wing and local element personnel with information about new or revised KMI policy and procedures and their impact on the mission.
