Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Emergency Services. Hawaii is a beautiful state, but has a high cost of living.

Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes enforcing federal, state and local laws, official orders and regulations; planning the operations or activities of multiple shifts of a security related workforce; and developing training for a security related workforce.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Major Duties:

  • You will make decisions on work problems surfaced by subordinate supervisors.
  • You will exercise significant responsibility in dealing with officials in other units/organizations and/or provides advice to management officials of higher grade.
  • You will develop and submit budget estimates essential to provide adequate support to conduct access control to the installation.
  • You will assure that job descriptions accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities assigned, and report proposed changes to Human Resources, prior to effecting any changes.
  • You will conduct periodic supervisory meetings relating to manpower, and other assigned Guard Force operational functions.
  • You will oversee the development and implementation of constantly updated training plans and special training necessitated by fielding new technology and identify the contents and cargo of vehicles.
