Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage and plan IT networks for a U.S. Marine Corps base in Hawaii, including creating policies, budgeting, and ensuring secure systems run smoothly.

It's a supervisory role focused on overseeing daily operations and long-term strategies for technology services.

A good fit would be someone with strong IT experience, leadership skills, and the ability to solve technical problems while working well with others in a military environment.

Key Requirements

  • One year of IT-related experience demonstrating attention to detail, such as verifying hardware and software compliance with DOD policies
  • One year of IT-related experience in customer service, including maintaining hardware and resolving software issues
  • One year of IT-related experience in oral communication, such as coordinating with personnel to resolve issues and influence teamwork
  • One year of IT-related experience in problem solving, including troubleshooting hardware/software interoperability and applying patches
  • One year of specialized supervisory experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, including IT policy creation, network planning, budgeting, and security recommendations
  • Ability to perform long-range and short-range planning for network operations and develop statements of work

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: verifying hardware and software and equipment are in accordance with DOD policy and directives. 2.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining customer hardware and resolving software problems in response to customer reported incidents. 3.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Working with personnel to plan, coordinate and resolve issues by influencing people to work towards mutual goals and have basic cooperative attitudes.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Troubleshooting, diagnosing hardware/software interoperability problems by repairing and applying software patches.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Providing supervisory and technical oversight in IT operations to include; creating installation IT policy, providing long-range and short-range planning for network operations, preparing budgetary justifications, designing data networks and systems, developing policy for telecommunication network and recommend network and physical security devices.

  • Serves as an Information Technology supervisor, responsible for the management of network resources for the installation and develops statements of work and created command policies and procedures.
  • Performs all functions involved with long-range and short-range planning for delivery of network services throughout the region by developing project Plans of Action and Milestone, budgetary requirements, system/network resources procedures.
  • Provide direction, guidance and develop policy for local telecommunication network and system operating units, centers, or network control facilities.
  • Analyze trends in the nature and level of demands for services and balance user requests against available capabilities and costs along with determining the operation continuity.
  • Determine requirements for and evaluate the results of test programs to measure the effectiveness of the communications systems and services.
