Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lead firefighter in the Navy in Hawaii, where you'll oversee a team by assigning tasks, checking their work, and helping them improve skills while ensuring everyone follows safety rules during emergencies.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on firefighting experience who enjoys training others and handling high-pressure situations like fires or medical crises.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner.

Develops the competencies of others to perform and contribute to the organization by inspiring and providing a learning environment of ongoing feedback and opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods, enabling employees to address skill gaps and realize their highest potential.

Actively encourages and supports enhancement of a joint perspective.

Conveys written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Expresses thoughts persuasively and uses effective modes to reinforce message retention.

Demonstrates ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences.

Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.

Interpreting concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; methodologies, strategies, and equipment used in prescribed fires; fire detection, prevention, and suppression strategies; knowledge of and ability to apply firefighting techniques in hazardous environments.

Ability to apply basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; ability to prepare individuals for transport to a medical facility.

Certifications: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, Hazmat Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter.

Also requires at least EMT level certification from National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).

  • You will verify personnel use the correct personal protection equipment during firefighting incidents to ensure safety.
