As a Supervisory Operations Support Specialist, you will oversee Operations Support Specialists who provide technical assistance to district and field managers and staff on a wide variety of administrative functions in support of the USCIS mission.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/11/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/11/2026.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.

You must have experience performing the following duties: Managing and providing technical advice on at least one of the following mission support programs: human resources management or budget and financial management.

Evaluating and improving operational support program services and processes.

Researching and writing reports and providing recommendations that provide authoritative guidance on complex mission support program issues.

Providing guidance and collaborating with colleagues throughout all levels of the directorate and agency to resolve problems pertaining to administrative and multi-programmatic concerns and projects.

  • Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within District 11, Boston MA and are assigned based on the need of the agency.
  • Provides supervisory, technical, and administrative direction to a team of Operations Support Specialists that are responsible for providing a variety of management services, advice, and guidance essential to the direction and operations of USCIS.
  • Anticipates problems that evolve from the complex and dynamic nature of organizations served, and provides solutions that accommodate needs without compromising guiding management principles, effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Evaluates and monitors communication and information sharing processes, recommends appropriate changes to policy, and assists in the coordination of liaison activities related to administrative functions within the District.
  • Provides advice and guidance directly to district leadership, operational managers, and incumbents on complex and difficult issues. Recommends innovative methods and strategies to resolve issues.
  • Carries out EEO policies and program activities, employee discipline, resolves complaints and grievances not requiring referral to a higher authority and makes recommendations for solution of those referred to the next higher organizational level.
