Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage all aspects of logistics for an Air Force squadron, including moving supplies and people, handling equipment and vehicles, and planning for both normal and emergency situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, series 0346.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to a full range of logistics management to include cargo and passenger movement, supply chain management, equipment and vehicles management, vehicle maintenance, warehousing, deployment planning and operations, personal property movement, fuels and, Quality Assurance, and logistic plans under peacetime and wartime conditions to develop and recommend policies and procedures for the squadron; Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. 4.

Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy. 5.

Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations and in formulating solutions to complex problems.

6. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate installations/organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is: Position serves as the 11th Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) Deputy and Logistics Manager; technical advisor in a squadron supporting a large multi-mission Joint Base installation with over 17,000 personnel in a major metropolitan area (Washington, D.C., National Capital Region (NCR)).

With the commander, the incumbent oversees the complex, numerous, and varied day-to-day support activities LRS provides installation-wide to over 70 DoD and Federal Agency tenant and mission partners, to include providing direct Presidential support to the White House, White House Communication Agency, U.S.

Secret Service, and Marine helicopter HMX-1, National Security type agencies, and other Military Services, to include U.S. Space Force and the U.S.

Coast Guard, and others across the NCR, and World-Wide mission supported from the Pentagon reservation.

The incumbent is authorized to make technical and executive decisions for the LRS Commander in all areas of functional responsibility; represents the squadron and the commander at meetings, conferences, official functions, and community events; and, when acting as the senior official in the absence of the commander, possesses the same authority and prerogatives as the commander, excluding UCMJ authority which is vested in military officers only.

Position also exercises second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 11 LRS.

Duties As deputy to the commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the day-to-day support activities that the Squadron provides to the installation.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

Represents the Logistics Readiness Squadron for installation and functional area logistics readiness issues within and outside the organization.

Plans and directs training, resources, and systems required to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the squadron.

Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments to include long-term planning, functional technical advice and guidance, and continuity of management
