This paid summer internship with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture involves helping inspect and support community sites that provide free meals to kids through USDA programs, ensuring safe food handling and compliance with rules.
You'll assist with communications, site visits, and program updates in the Midlands area.
It's ideal for college students studying agriculture or food safety who want hands-on experience in government food regulation.
Through USDA's summer meal programs, approved sites in communities across the country serve meals and snacks to kids 18 and younger at no cost.
The SC Department of Agriculture's (SCDA) Retail Food Safety program inspects these sites to ensure proper food handling practices are being adhered to.
As an intern with the Summer Feeding program, you will gain actual work experience in planning and coordinating Summer Feeding activities.
This program's goal is to provide work experience that will be beneficial to a student who is interested in a career in retail food safety.
