Summary

This paid summer internship at the South Carolina Department of Agriculture's Consumer Protection Laboratory lets students explore chemical and biological testing in areas like seeds, animal feed, petroleum, dairy, and chemical residues.

Full Job Description

The SC Department of Agriculture has a
SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
available within our Consumer Protection Laboratory Division for
students seeking a degree in agriculture, science, chemistry, or a similar field.

Consumer Protection Laboratory – Campus of the State Farmers Market in West Columbia.

As an intern in this role, you will have the opportunity to become acquainted with chemical and biological testing performed in the five laboratory sections housed within the Consumer Protection Laboratory. These laboratory sections include testing of seed, animal feed, petroleum products, milk and dairy, and chemical residue/adulterants. You will learn the complete process of how samples are submitted to the laboratory from regulatory and compliance programs in SCDA through receipt within the laboratory, ensuring proper chain of custody, and ultimately on to testing and provision of test results back to the submitting regulatory/compliance program.

NOTE: This internship is based on the campus of the Columbia State Farmers Market in West Columbia, SC. This is not a remote internship.

Requirements
