Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing and ensuring that safety-critical work on submarines, like safety programs and steam systems, is done correctly in a naval shipyard.

You'll monitor progress, stop unsafe work if needed, investigate issues, and suggest improvements to keep everything running smoothly.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent in federal, private, or public sector
  • Experience performing or analyzing compliance for SUBSAFE, STEAM PLANT, DSS/SOC, FBW, SFCC, or Level-1 work
  • Ability to review, monitor, and investigate production work requirements for compliance
  • Skills in stopping work progression when safety or readiness issues are identified and reviewing corrective actions
  • Proficiency in reviewing work authorizations, technical directions, shipyard instructions, and quality evidence documentation
  • Experience investigating and reporting problems in SUBSAFE, Steam Plant, and Level 1 work to identify trends and recommend improvements

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUBSAFE/STEAM PLANT COORDINATOR in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing or observing and analyzing program compliance of Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE)/ STEAM PLANT, Deep Submergence System/Scope of Certification (DSS/SOC), Fly-by Wire (FBW), Submarine Flight Critical Component (SFCC) or critical level-1 work in-progress to ensure requirements are met..

  • You will review, monitor, observe, investigate, report, and mentor compliance execution of production work requirements relative to all SUBSAFE/ STEAM PLANT work efforts.
  • You will be responsible for stopping briefings/work progression when conclusions determine that work is not ready to start or continue and review corrective actions prior to work restart.
  • You will review applicable work authorizations, technical work directions, shipyard instructions, references, and objective quality evidence documentation associated with and during work cycles.
  • You will investigate, report, and gather data of SUBSAFE, Steam Plant, and Level 1 problems encountered during work execution reviews to identify trends and recommend improvements.
