Job Description

Summary

This job focuses on preventing sexual harassment and assault in the military by planning programs, training people, and coordinating outreach efforts to create safer environments.

It involves spotting risks, building protective strategies, and working with leaders and teams to implement these initiatives effectively.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in behavioral or social science (e.g., Social Work, Sociology, Psychology) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of experience demonstrating knowledge in behavioral or social sciences
  • One year of specialized experience in executing prevention, response, victim advocacy, and reporting procedures for sexual harassment and assault
  • Experience in distributing advocacy duties among Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) and Victim Advocates (VAs)

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Sexual Assault Program Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: his position is primarily responsible for the planning, execution/coordination and evaluation of prevention activities (policies, programs and practices), training, education, and outreach for sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

A Degree or (higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology etc. OR B.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR C.

Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In Addition to the Individual Occupational Requirement (Basic Requirement) above, you must meet the Specialized Experience Below: Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Executing procedures, issues, and criteria related to prevention, response, victim advocacy, reporting/investigative procedures, and decision points and impacts related to incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault; 2) Providing equitable and appropriate distribution of advocacy duties among the pool of SARCs and VAs across the installation AND/OR 3) Developing plans, methods or local policies relating to SHARP program prevention.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 grade level. Major Duties:

  • Provide technical and policy assistance in resolving problem areas related to the prevention of sexual harassment and assault.
  • Recognize existing or potential risk factors that can lead to sexual harassment or sexual assault.
  • Facilitate prevention activities for the installation that span across the socio-ecological model to address potential risk factors and bolster protective factors.
  • Identify protective factors that can minimize the risk or prevent sexual harassment and sexual assault.
  • Promote the development of methods and techniques required to execute the primary prevention capability.
  • Build and sustain productive collaborative relationships with other specialists involved in integrated primary prevention.
  • Brief leadership regarding command prevention efforts and impact, barriers to execution (e.g., lack of a supportive environment).
