Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator acts as the primary point of contact for sexual assault/sexual harassment matters.

The incumbent reports directly to the Supervisory SARC Principal and is responsible for providing first-level supervision civilian Victim Advocates (VAs).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service providing professional advocacy and crisis intervention services for victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault; managing sexual harassment/sexual assault cases from initial report through disposition and resolution to ensure regulatory compliance and the health and well-being of victims; maintaining case documentation and data quality in official reporting systems to ensure coordinated care and compliance; and assisting in training and outreach activities to promote awareness, prevention, and understanding of reporting procedures.

Major Duties:

  • Manages victim assistance and advocacy activities performed by military and civilian VAs.
  • Oversees and manages the processing of all complaints, including reports of sexual harassment, retaliation, reprisal, and other requests for expedited transfer.
  • Receives notification of all reports of sexual assault and sexual harassment within their area of responsibility.
  • Provide updates to Lead SARC on the status of case management, victim advocacy, response, and personnel management of VAs they supervise.
  • Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates based on priority cases, requirements of the assignment, individual capabilities, and resources available.
  • Develops performance plans and evaluates performance of subordinates.
