This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in the Data Integration & Reporting (JLSR), Software Development & Operations (JLS), Enterprise Shared Services (JL), Information Technology (J).
A successful candidate in this position will ensure the integration of IT programs & services & developing solutions to integration/interoperability issues & designing, developing, & managing systems that meet current & future business requirements & optimize the existing architecture.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience primarily focused on senior-level data architecture and lead data modeling.
This includes 1) leading the design, development, and maintenance of complex logical and physical data models for enterprise data assets, such as data warehouses, data marts, and integration platforms, 2) applying and adapting new and improved architectural approaches and technologies to design and implement enterprise data integration, data warehousing, and data lake solutions, 3) developing and enforcing guidelines for enterprise data modeling practices, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and planning and architecting major data integration projects, including the migration of existing ETL solutions to new technologies and platforms, and 4) diagnosing and resolving the most complex data management problems and issues, and providing expert technical advice and recommendations regarding data architecture and modeling strategies.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.
Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

As a Senior Data Architect, you will: Perform a variety of work involving planning, development, implementation, and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data.
Apply and adapt new and improved approaches to the design, development, and implementation of data mining, data warehousing, and related data storage and retrieval systems.
Develop guidelines for the application of data modeling practices to the development of data management applications. Diagnose and resolve the most complex data management problems and issues.
Develop logical data models to be translated into workable physical database schema and structures in the database development process. Select modeling methodologies and tools.
Generate models that are capable of accommodating new and unanticipated business requirements and processes. Verify model integrity. Maintain and revise existing models.
Perform a variety of work involving the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software.
Lead a multi-functional development project in software analysis, design, development, and implementation for a new system or major enhancement to an existing system.
Draft project plans and identify resource requirements. Ensure customer and management involvement throughout the software development process.
Resolve critical issues affecting the configuration of the IT infrastructure. Coordinate the demonstration of new and enhanced applications to customers and management.
Ensure applications are optimized for state-of-the-art technology and functionality.
Lead the applications development process to identify and correct weaknesses in critical performance parameters and variances in achieving cost, schedule, and performance goals.
