TERM LIMITED POSITION: This position is term limited with an anticipated end date of approximately 12-18 months from the date of hire.

We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative Data Architect to advise, develop and facilitate data architecture strategy including cloud, advanced technologies & platforms for OIT and partner agencies.

In this role you will support efforts as an expert and leverage technology and innovation to provide scalable solutions to complex and diverse business problems.

You will approve all relevant data architecture decisions and ensure alignment with agency needs, considering both the current and future needs of the agency.


Some of the important duties that you will perform include:


Consulting as a resource on data strategy and architecture to OIT and agency partners. Advise in strategic direction and ideation, removes roadblocks, and assure on-track alignment with executive expectations.


Driving innovations, collaborations, and insights establishing a strong data-driven approach to decision-making across the organization.

Bring best in class technologies, innovation, and creativity to the table in developing technical solutions to solve complex multi-dimensional problems.


Providing technology expertise by architecting, prototyping, researching, recommending, documenting, and assisting in implementing and evaluating technical solutions for business issues whether purchased or developed.


Assessing new data initiatives to determine compliance with the architecture, information security and data standards. Coordinate the review processes with project planners.


Interfacing with vendor technology/solutions, as well as appropriate involvement of OIT architecture, throughout the entire project lifecycle.


Qualifications



A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.

This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in data architecture (solution architecture), data management and information classification at the enterprise level, including an understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.


Demonstrated experience designing solutions in modern data technology platforms including Cloud (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP, Spark) based solutions.


Experience in developing and operationalizing architectural and data designs, including data, technology and infrastructure.


Experience with identifying, monitoring, and rectifying data quality concerns using data governance tools.



Substitutions:

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with Informatica and Snowflake.


Experience in Data Modeling & Design, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Document & Content Management, Metadata, Reference & Master Data, Data Governance and API Led Connectivity.


Experience in local, state or federal government.



Conditions of Employment:

OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.

A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.

This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.

This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.

If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.


While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
