About the Position: Serve as the Black Sea Area Support Team (BSAST) Security Manager, and is responsible for all matters pertaining to Security.

Directs, plans, develops, coordinates, implements and administers programs designed primarily to protect personnel, classified and sensitive unclassified defense information, material, operations, and/or facilities from compromise, unauthorized disclosure, acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage and common criminal acts.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Developing security plans involving operating requirements for physical security, personnel security, industrial security, information security, and specialized security programs; AND Applying security principles, ideas, and theories to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; and Identifying security vulnerabilities for resolution.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Serve as the Area Support Group- Black Sea (ASG-BS) Security Manager responsible for all matters pertaining to security.
  • Direct programs designed primarily to protect personnel, classified and sensitive unclassified information, material, operations, and facilities from compromise, unauthorized disclosure, acts of terrorism and sabotage.
  • Interpret and/or define minimal and broad guidelines to program development, requiring the application of new concepts and theories to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted security measures.
  • Control for all aspects of the administration and execution of the security office to include annual budget preparation and submission of all required reports.
  • Responsible for Planning, developing and implementing the ASG-BS personnel security program including security clearances, personnel suitability and classified access programs.
