Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing expert cybersecurity support for defense systems, including reviewing secure development work, recommending security solutions, and monitoring network intrusions to protect military information networks.

It supports the US Cyber Command and focuses on ensuring systems meet Department of Defense standards.

A good fit would be someone with strong IT experience in cybersecurity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical details to non-experts, ideally with a background in government or military IT support.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of IT-related experience demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem-solving competencies

  • Knowledge of information security (INFOSEC) solutions and how products interrelate to support missions like Joint Provider PFPA (JPP)

  • Familiarity with DoD policies for security auditing and incident response

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA J6/C4 ENTERPRISE DIRECTORATE.

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience in the implementation and life-cycle management processes and modernization of office automation system/support to review, analyze, and resolve information management system problems.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Provides technical support for secure development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept, user requirements, and DOD standards.
  • Reviews and recommends information security (INFOSEC) solutions to enclave problems based on an understanding of how products and services interrelate and support the INFOSEC and Joint Provider PFPA (JPP) missions.
  • Coordinates with DISA Headquarters to provide expert security and technical advice on unique JPP configurations and identify problem areas in their implementation plans.
  • Prepares written reports, position papers, status reports, briefings, messages, and other correspondence related to PFPA's security posture.
  • Monitors and responds to network intrusion incidents. Directly reports network intrusions to the appropriate authorities. Monitors security auditing in accordance with DOD policy to ensure protection of the site security posture.
