Location and hours:
This position is located at the Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Drive, Medina, MN 55340. Work hours will be Monday to Friday and may include eight-to-ten-hour shifts equaling up to 40 hours per week. There is no public transportation to this facility.
About this position type:
This is a temporary seasonal (non-benefit earning) position that may last for up to six months during the 2026 road construction season (April–October 2026).
This position is internally classified as Casual Laborer.

In this position, you will:
- Flag traffic, pave asphalt, and trim trees
- Shovel and rake.
- Patch potholes and seal cracks.
- Clean ditches and landscape.
- Perform other road construction/traffic maintenance related laborer tasks.
Need to have:- Must be 18 years or older.
- A valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
- Availability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, and work on uneven terrain.
Nice to have:- Experience:
- Flagging on a road construction project.
- With traffic maintenance related equipment.
- Performing a variety of roadway and construction-related tasks such as project inspection, installing rip rap, setting signs and traffic control devices, landscaping, operating portable changeable message boards (PCMS), rubbish pickup, pothole patching, shoveling and raking, sweeping, tree trimming, post-hole digging with a power auger, working in traffic and on uneven surfaces, and operating other traffic-maintenance equipment.
- Operating a variety of construction and maintenance equipment, including chainsaws, jack hammers, single-axle trucks (26,000 GVW minimum), skid steer loaders, woodchippers, and other related construction equipment.
- Working in areas such as building and heavy construction, lawn and landscape maintenance, farm-equipment operation, commercial motor vehicle operation over 26,000 GVW, road construction and maintenance, traffic-control device setup (signs, barricades, barrels, cones), and other construction-related activities.
