A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. Requirements

Work Environment:
This position is Full-time, Grant-funded (subject to available funding), and Hybrid (Remote/Home Office, with a requirement to report to the Work location per business needs). This position is dependent upon ongoing grant funding.
  • Office hours are typically Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm.
  • Extended hours during the evening or the weekend may be required by business needs.
  • Occasional Travel for in-person meetings/trainings, including overnight travel, required within the State of Colorado across all borders
  • A Remote (Home) office is required
  • Required to report to the work location per business needs

Position Summary:
The Colorado Department of Education’s vision is to create equitable educational environments where all students and staff in Colorado thrive. School-Based Mental Health Professionals provide comprehensive social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health support in schools and Districts. The School-Based Mental Health Services (SBMHS) Grant aims to address the shortage of School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) providers in Colorado. In this position, you will partner with higher education institutions, state agencies, community partners and local education providers to develop recruitment and retention strategies, training for graduate SBMH supervisors and help in the re-specialization of clinical workers for school-based roles.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as higher education institutions, state agencies, community partners, and local education providers to recruit and retain SBMH providers and re-specialize private and/or community-based clinicians.

  • Partner with Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Educator Talent Licensing Office to expedite re-specialization licenses.

  • Engage with diverse national, state and local professional groups to support recruitment efforts.

  • Develop and expand recruitment strategies and create targeted strategies for SBMH providers, including but not limited to offering move-in stipends.

  • Collaborate with professionals to develop and deliver training in culturally responsive supervision practices tailored for SBMH supervisors, ensuring inclusivity and relevance in supervisory approaches.

  • Draft Annual Progress Reports of Colorado’s recruitment, retention and respecialization of the SBMH providers.

  • Develop a plan for the distribution of training stipends to SBMH supervisors.


Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master’s degree in school-based mental health or a related field.
  • And at least 3-5 years of experience supervising and/or managing school-based mental health professionals.
  • Must hold an active school-based mental health license with CDE.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:
Qualifications for Success in the Position:
  • Must hold an active school-based mental health license with CDE.
  • Experience in organizational leadership.
  • Proficiency in project management, including stakeholder collaboration and milestone tracking to attain project objectives.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse professional groups.
  • Experience in training and supporting professionals on culturally responsive, inclusive practices and fostering equity in school-based mental health or related fields.
  • Strong attention to detail (proofing work, spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively balance quality of work and productivity expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers (e.g. school districts, other CDE units).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the department and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exhibit a proactive approach to work.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and recommend solutions prior to the standard being jeopardized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as on a team.

Conditions of Employment (Required):
  • Must hold an active school-based mental health license with CDE.
  • Must be willing and able to submit to the pre-screening process and pass a background check.
  • Ability and willingness to independently determine, obtain means, and complete required travel for meetings and trainings.
