Job Summary

The Associate Dean of Instructional Operations plays a key leadership role in advancing the mission, vision, and strategic direction of Instruction at Arapahoe Community College, ensuring alignment with the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and its goals.

This highly visible position represents the College to internal and external stakeholders and actively cultivates partnerships that support student success.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, collaborative leader who is recognized by colleagues as an advocate for students and is known for integrity, empathy, humility, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.

Working closely with faculty, staff, and students across divisions, the Associate Dean helps shape instructional priorities and contributes to the future direction of academic programs based on emerging needs.

The Associate Dean oversees key operational functions that drive instructional excellence, including strategic schedule production, program development and approval, catalog maintenance, academic plans, academic rooming, and Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC).

The role serves as liaison between the ACC Curriculum Committee and CCCS, tracking and submitting curriculum changes, and acts as the College’s CTE Director to ensure all career and technical programs comply with state policies and guidelines.

Additionally, the Associate Dean serves as Principal Investigator for the Perkins grant, ensuring strategic and compliant use of funds, and functions as the College’s credentialing officer.

This position supervises the Instructional Operations team—including project, support, scheduling, and administrative staff—and fosters best practices and efficiencies to support high-quality instructional operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support instructional programs to ensure quality, compliance, and alignment with college goals.
  • Supervise and develop the Instructional Operations team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee core academic operations, including scheduling, catalog updates, rooming, FLAC, and faculty credentialing.
  • Manage CTE and Perkins grant compliance, ensuring strategic use of funds and adherence to state and federal requirements.
  • Build partnerships and support continuous improvement, including accreditation activities, assessment practices, and community engagement.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree and two years’ relevant experience may substitute but will not count towards the experience requirement below
  • Three years’ relevant experience
  • supervisory experience including hiring, training, and evaluating staff
  • Demonstrated experience in a teaching & learning environment
  • Experience in budget preparation and management
  • Familiarity with both General Education (GE) and Career Technical Education (CTE) programs
  • Knowledge of trends impacting Career and Technical Education and/or compliance with Perkins legislation

Preferred

  • Experience with the accreditation process
  • Experience developing schedules and catalogs in education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and trends in higher education that affect budgets, policies, student services, tuition models, and instructional strategies
  • Experience teaching in a postsecondary environment
  • Experience integrating current technology to enhance productivity and facilitate learning
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum and program development incorporating adult learning theory
  • Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with external organizations and agencies especially other postsecondary institutions and accreditation/regulatory agencies
  • Grant management experience
