Recreation Supervisor (Tennis)

Full Job Description

Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the planning and administration of municipal recreational programs. Accountable for technical work in a recreational specialty, and administrative work in assisting in the planning and promotional phases of the programs. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Work Location
McFarlin Tennis Center - 1503 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212.

Work Hours
Monday - Thursday: varying shifts from 8:00am to 8:00pm
Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Some weekend, early morning and evening hours depending on tournaments and/or special events.

Requirements

Approves, coordinates, implements and reviews program activities and special events at centers.Schedules rooms, recreation areas, facilities and fields for community use when requested.Promotes and refers citizens to community programs that best meet their needs.Assumes responsibility for equipment and supplies.

Keeps inventory current, and orders new materials and equipment, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing 10-15 pounds.Assumes responsibility for the building and grounds, including completing maintenance reports and making suggestions for new facilities, when needed.Speaks at Community Clubs, PTA, and other organizations on recreation programs.Assists in preparing, reviewing, monitoring, and compiling program budgets.Plans, organizes, promotes, reviews and directs municipal leagues and tournaments in individual and team sports, to include conducting registration sessions; setting dates and times; determining sites and other related responsibilities, depending on area of assignment.Plans, organizes, promotes, reviews, and directs aquatic programs, swimming meets, lifesaving instruction sessions, and other related responsibilities, depending on area of assignment.Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned staff.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Two (2) years of experience instructing and/or implementing and evaluating recreation programs.

Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in athletic tournaments.
• Prior tennis and/or pickleball experience.
• Experience in facilities management and sport related special events.
• Experience with registration and reservation software applications.

Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.

One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

• Ability to analyze local community trends and adjust recreational
  programs based on these.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
• Ability to develop work schedules and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
• Ability to coordinate and schedule events with outside organizations.
