Are you looking for an exciting career opportunity working in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Patent Operations, Office of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Patent Operations, Office of Application Processing for Patents (OAPP), Office of Patent Application Processing (OPAP)?
In this position you will be assisting both the head of the organization and other officials in matters pertaining to patent application processing and participates in new Quality Control Initiatives.
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-07.
Specialized experience for this position includes: Inspecting, evaluating and validating the quality accuracy of patent document codes and images within patent automation systems; AND Presenting findings and explaining analytical results, including recommendations to address or improve data quality; AND Assisting with the development and implementation of quality control initiatives to ensure the accuracy of patent application data.
OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR LL.B.
or JD., if related to specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level at the federal service; OR A combination of graduate education AND experience equivalent to the next lower GS-07 grade level that meets 100% of the equivalent requirements for this position.

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.
Presence at the Alexandria, VA campus is required for this role, as it includes on site functions that must be performed in person.
Position may be eligible for situational telework in accordance with agency policy/business unit discretion. The agency currently allows for 52 hours of telework per calendar year.
Major duties for this position will be: Conducting quality checks on incoming patent documents and proactively correcting discrepancies with patent document codes utilizing automated systems.
Providing analytical support to more senior staff to identify existing and potential problems that may affect quality.
Reviewing and compiling informational reports from a variety of sources to assist with application correction and ensuring internal and external customers view the appropriate document types.
