Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the construction and overhaul of ballistic missile submarines, specifically the COLUMBIA Class, by managing schedules, coordinating resources, and resolving issues to keep projects on track.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the Ballistic Missile Submarine Design and Construction project Office of SUPSHIP.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing production control functions (i.e., preparing work packages, scheduling work, coordinating resources) to plan and accomplish the overhaul of ship systems.

  • You will function as the technical authority and subject matter expert for COLUMBIA Class construction.
  • You will independently be held responsible for the extensive review/coordination of, research into, and resolution of the changes and problem areas of assigned projects.
  • You will act as the COLUMBIA Class production/quality waterfront project manager (ship's superintendent) for ship(s) assigned.
  • You will assist the Project Officer by providing information pertinent to the rapid resolution of problems affecting orderly, economical completion of ship's construction.
  • You will be responsible for requiring the coordination, management, and review of contract requirements, specification, and all other related documents.
  • You will function as chairman or attend meetings with government and contractor personnel.
  • You will coordinate the accomplishment of tasks related to assigned project work category; anticipate and assist in preventing delays; and resolves problems which can affect end costs, schedule, and performance of the contract schedule.
  • You will review proposed changes to the project work package for technical accuracy of documents for the change.
