This job involves overseeing quality assurance for non-nuclear parts of submarine repairs, conversions, and overhauls at a naval shipyard, ensuring projects meet safety and efficiency standards through planning, audits, and team coordination.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the ENGINEERING & ANALYSIS DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing comprehensive programs to monitor aspects of systematic and economical Quality Assurance principles, as related to non-nuclear areas of submarine conversion, repair, and overhaul.

Experience interpreting directives, instructions, plans to evaluate work, material and methods. Experience assisting in SUBSAFE certification utilizing NAVSEA requirements and operating procedures.

Experience identifying problem areas and initiating corrective actions. Experience applying oral and written communication skills to deliver briefings and prepare reports for wide distribution.

  • You will initiate planning and coordination with non- nuclear project team managers to develop a project quality management plan.
  • You will provide Alteration Installation team (AIT) oversight and coordination as Naval Supervisory Authority (NSA).
  • You will perform management quality assessment and audits of critical processes (e.g testing, mechanical joint makeup etc).
  • You will develop and conduct a non-nuclear quality monitoring program.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.
