Base salary range: $51,332 - $66,732
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-8. Master's degree or 2 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves overseeing quality checks on submarine parts and systems at a naval shipyard in California to make sure contractors follow all rules and standards.
You'll inspect installations, review data, and report on progress to keep projects on track.

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the DETACHMENT POINT LOMA SAN DIEGO, CA, CERTIFICATION BRANCH, NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying a broad and comprehensive understanding of quality assurance principles and practices and knowledge of Level I certification control and SUBSAFE requirements.
Experience interpreting directives, instructions, plans, standards, and procedures while having the ability to objectively evaluate quality data against these documents.
Experience working with submarine piping systems to include installation procedures and test criteria.
Experience in perform dimensional or geometrical inspections using measuring devices (e.g., fixed gages, micrometers, calipers, protractors, precision gage blocks, indicators).
Experience preparing reports and providing status of certification progress to the code and project management.
